December 11-14, 2012

12-English:  This week were are looking at the Age of the Stuarts.  We shall look at the poetry of John Donne, and John Milton.  In particular, we shall look at "Lycidas," in particular.  By week's end, the mind portion of the Who Am I essay should be finished, and students should be into their beliefs.  Who Am I essay is due before Christmas Break.  Tragedy essay is now past due.


11-0 Culinary

This week we did journal entries, recipes.  As well, we are prepping and cooking pizza on Thursday and Friday.

10 English:
We are finishing the novel Anthem this week.

Questions chapter IX:

1.  How did The Golden One find Equality 7-2521?  Why did he not be more careful?  If she found him so easily, could not the men of the city found him too?
2.  How did The Golden One find out Equality 7-2521 had left the city?
3.  What reasons did The Golden One give for wanting to leave the safety of the city to be with Equality 7-2521?
4.  When Equality 7-2521 said, "Fear nothing of the forest.  There is no danger in solitude." what message was he trying to convey to The Golden One.
5.  Equlaity 7-2521 asks that if solitude is corruption, then does that mean that corruption is a good thing--not bad?  What is he saying?  Do people today ask the same question?  If so, in what circumstance?

Questions chapter X:

1.  From what era or age do you think the house from Unmentionable Times was constructed?  Why?
2.  What room of the house do you think will become the most important room to the couple?  Why?
3.  Equality 7-2521 says that they will not share the house, not share their joy, not share their love, and not share their hunger.  What does he mean, "to not share their hunger?"

Questions chapter XI:

1.  What does Equality 7-2521 mean when he says, "I am, I think, I will....This is the answer" ?
2.  Equality says that three words are holy: I will it.  What does this mean?
3.  When Equlity says, "I owe nothing to my brothers, nor do I gather debts from them,"What does he mean?  Does this go against Biblical philosophy often believed today that questions, "Am I my brother's keeper?"
4.  What does Equality say is the "root of all evil on Earth,"?  Explain why he says this.
5.  Equality asks, "What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?"  What does he mean?
6.  Equality ends the rant by saying, "This god is one word, I."  Is he saying he is God, or is he saying something else?
