English 11:
Essay topic for Romeo and Juliet:
Write a critical essay on Romeo and Juliet on how effectively Wm. Shakespeare crafted the play.
[look at Plot: Act I is the introduction, Act II: development or rising action or conflict begins, Act III is the climax (something occurs that cannot go back to the way life was, and complicates the play), Act IV deneumont or falling action, Act V: conclusion) Characters, Setting and Themes].
OR
Write a critical essay on how effectively Wm. Shakespeare used language (symbolism, images, figures of speech, sound devices) in the play Romeo and Juliet.

Questions on Act I of Romeo and Juliet:
1. What qualities of a good introduction can be seen in this play? (Is Shakespeare a good writer?)
2. A. What is your impression of Romeo so far in this play? Give examples from the play to support your answer.
2. B. How mature is Juliet in this play? Give examples from the play to support your answer.
3. What are two questions you might like to ask your good friend Romeo about the dance last night?
4. What might Juliet and the nurse talk about when Juliet is preparing for bed that night?
5. Act II is the development of the play. What conflict do you see developing in this play in Act II?

English 9:
Students have a quiz on Monday, May 12, on poetry. Students will have another quiz on Poetry Theory on Thursday.
Students will continue working on Fast ForWord this week.
Short Story is due Monday, 12, 2008.

12 Canadian Literature:
Students will examine one of the most important pieces of writing in Canadian history: The Charter of Rights and Freedoms, a defining work that identifies Canadians.
Short Stories are due.
